Magnificent main floor in Palazzo Coglitore, historic home of the baron of the same name.

Let us introduce you to the magnificent main floor of Palazzo Coglitore, historical home of the baron of the same name, an architectural jewel located in the heart of Palermo, built in 1792, at the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

With its 487 square meters of pure elegance, this extraordinary apartment is a perfect example of how different artistic currents blend harmoniously, creating a unique and fascinating atmosphere. Stepping through the front door, we are greeted by a large hallway with an elegant colonnade, once used to receive carriages and horses, on the right we find the access to the ground floor building of about 86 square meters consisting of 3.5 rooms, a room formerly used for storage and coal store.

Going up the elegant and majestic Verona red marble staircase, decorated with inlays of light marbles and Guatemala green, we reach the piano Nobile.

On the wall to the left, just before the entrance, stands a marble half-bust in memory of Baron Salvatore Coglitore, two imposing stained glass windows and in the center of the stairwell a majestic nineteenth-century chandelier softly illuminate the whole room. Upon entering its interior, it is as if time had stood still: a first large hall introduces the others, with walls and ceilings adorned with frescoes, above wooden doors and wood paneling, while the majolica floors, different for each room, tell stories of a bygone era.

From this first entrance hall, one enters an even larger room, also rich in frescoes, and from there one reaches an imposing room placed exactly in the center of the house, as if it were its heart. This majestic room, the nucleus of the house, has a huge fresco on the roof representing “The Sacrifice of Iphigenia,“ signed by Vincenzo Riolo, a famous painter of the time. While the one to its right, bears a fresco by Elia Interguglielmini representing “The Triumph of the Goddess Diana.“ There are eight larger rooms in total, and all of them bear similar features between original wallpapers and frescoes. In the innermost wing of the house there is the service area where we find a bathroom and a kitchen, also through a small internal staircase it is possible to reach an attic composed of 2 small rooms with exposed wooden beams and a small window.
Inside, there are numerous small niches, then made to follow and respect the cult of the “invisible servant,“ very common and in vogue among the patrician homes of the time. Three, on the other hand, are the balconies overlooking Via San Sebastiano.

Palazzo Coglitore is not just a property; it is an opportunity to experience a piece of history, to become the custodian of an unparalleled artistic and cultural heritage.
