What can't be missing in a luxury home? The question is legitimate since the word "luxury" has been too easily cleared into the real estate market and there is a risk of causing a bit of confusion. In this article we analyze in detail what a luxury home must have and what the distinctive elements are.
The main characteristics of a luxury home
A luxury house can have varied styles and also large or small dimensions, but it must have some of the following characteristics:
· an attractive design and/or historical/landscape value;
· high quality materials;
· advanced technological equipment;
· functional spaces and accessories;
· external spaces and equipment;
· prestigious location;
· various extras (works of art, unique pieces of craftsmanship, interior design signed by important architects).
Not all of these characteristics must necessarily be present, but at least some.
The furnishings of a luxury home
Luxury homes are typically decorated by famous interior designers, but of course the owners are free to add a personal touch. Certainly in a luxury house fake wood, low quality chipboard or plastic materials will not be used, but rather quality materials such as marble and precious woods, parquet or valuable flooring. Among the available options are granite countertops, marble floors or Venetian plaster for the walls.
The workmanship is usually artisanal, with the use of glass, metals and high quality woods. Other extras that increase the value of the house are double sinks, swimming pools, garages, fireplaces, kitchens with islands, etc.
The style of luxury homes
If we talk about style we enter into a rather subjective discussion, since luxury homes can be minimal, vintage, classic and even gothic. In some cases the homes are already furnished, so there is less margin of freedom in terms of furnishings. Otherwise there is a greater possibility of personalizing the house according to your preferred style.
A personal and even slightly eccentric touch doesn't hurt, such as design elements that create a stylistic break but still harmonize with the surrounding environment, an object with a "wow" effect or a collector's piece. It would be a good idea to prepare the house with large windows which, in addition to giving elegance and grandeur, increase the perceived space and flood the rooms with natural light.
