Luxury real estate? It is no longer a business for a few. More and more people are interested in very expensive houses, but often just to peek… and dream!
No, this is nothing rough or off-limits to minors under the age of 18. According to Luxforsale, a portal specializing in the promotion of luxury properties, Property Porn is the new frontier of online real estate research. If it is true that luxury has always attracted attention even from those who cannot really afford certain investments, it is equally true that more visits are the sign of a market in turmoil.
Property Porn is now an established trend, as ascertained by the browsing flows recorded by Luxforsale, especially in the last 12 months. It seems that at least one in five Italians gets lost in regularly browsing luxury real estate ads. Dream, real interest or a healthy voyeuristic tendency is not known, to speak clearly are only the numbers: according to our estimates 7% of those who surf the site do so to peek at the luxury properties with wide eyes.
Young people are increasingly interested in luxury!
“The luxury market, as we know, is a business for the lucky few. Yet in the last 12 months we have seen a considerable increase of under 25 interested in luxury real estate advertisements ”says Claudio Citzia Founder of Luxforsale.
Among those who want to dream and those who plan to move there is a large percentage of young people who look at the dizzying homes to get ideas in terms of furnishings.
The growing attention to these properties has certainly also been stimulated by the health emergency. Lockdowns and limitations have pushed an increasing number of people to look for more comfortable and equipped environments, also to carry out their work activities in smart working.
What are the most visited ads?
In the best Italian tradition, the luxury structures most appreciated by young real estate voyeurs are the beachfront houses, the ideal place to create the perfect work life balance. The confirmation comes from Luxforsale data: visits to dream properties in regions such as Liguria, Puglia, Sardinia and Sicily have shot upwards. The contemporary architectures of the great metropolises follow closely, perhaps designed by super star architects or farmhouses in central Italy (Tuscany, Umbria, Emilia Romagna, Lazio).
For those with a few wrinkles on their face, however, attention to houses with ancient characteristics, such as exposed bricks, carved doors and ample living space, is always in fashion.
