Giovanni Minelli was born in Bergamo on December 15, 1976.
She studied at Brera at the Academy of Fine Arts, and her first projects were born in this period of training, in a suspended balance between art and industrial design, unique pieces soon exhibited in contemporary art galleries. It is then invited to major exhibitions and fairs in the industry.
In its designs, it combines its artistic roots with the technologies and research typical of industrial design.
In a first phase, the designer's approach to the project is predominantly artistic, expressive, even almost pictorial gesture. Only in a second phase translates this into a real project.
In 2004 he created a collection of tables, tables, chairs, consoles and stools made entirely of mirror polished stainless steel, all of them with a common character: the curved, twisted legs.
Gio Minelli calls this very special collection: "Anomalies", you can view it and buy it at the TID showroom in via Pordoi 8 in Baranzate, a few steps from Milan.
There have been more things, interwoven with each other, that have guided the designer's choice of making "abnormal" common objects commonly used everyday.
The artist designer, on the one hand, purely aesthetic, has been inspired by the tubular framework, or the twisting of square shapes, by the well-known Canadian architect Frank Gehry known for his sculptural approach to design, also known as being the apripist Of the deconstructive current, as well as being one of the most influential architects on the international scene.
In particular, Gio Minelli was inspired by the work done by the architect in Bilbao in the design of the Guggenheim Museum.
With regard to the intention of the artist and designer Gio Minelli's mind, it is predominantly unconventional thinking in choosing to create that particular twist in the legs of all the pieces belonging to the Anomalies collection.
There is an idea of rebellion, but even more so of "liberation" and "independence", there has been a search for a gesture on the object, in this case the legs, trying to get rid of it, High, even breaking the floor.
What comes out of it is a perfect dynamism, loaded with elegance and essence, and with a simple harmony, Gio Minelli has created a truly unique collection.
