PALAZZO NEOCLASSICO - BERGAMO ALTA The palace is located in the western part of Bergamo´s Upper Town. It is a large building with a plan traceable to an “H,“ with the built front bordering the street and two opposing courtyards. The building has three above-ground levels, plus two basement portions, with mixed load-bearing stone masonry with a roof tile covering and a roof-terrace on the northeast corner. The main front has an elegant neoclassical layout, with the central part slightly advanced, ground floor with ashlar banded facing. The ground-floor openings have rhombic grilles; those on the upper levels have sandstone cornices, which on the first floor are distinguished by linear gables supported by double spiral brackets, with the exception of the central window with a triangular gable. In the interior, painted ceilings dating to the 19th century with depictions of naturalistic and geometric motifs are preserved on all levels. On the first floor above the main courtyard, remnants of classicist-inspired wall decorations with grotesques, probably from the 16th century, are visible. Also noteworthy are the wooden ceilings, marble fireplace displays, and seeded floors. The palace is completed on the west side by an appurtenant garden paved in porphyry, with the exception of a hedge along the parapets. Bounded toward neighboring streets by high stone ground retaining walls. The building constitutes a significant example of stately architecture in the context of the Upper Town.
