The current appearance was given in 1911 by architect Napoleon Pagliarulo, who was commissioned by owner Raffaele Elia to make the fortress suitable for the family's living needs. It presents a quadrangular plan characterized by an imposing central mole decorated with Renaissance motifs. The inner courtyard is valuable, overlooked by round-headed portals that lead into the interior rooms. The rooms have barrel, ogival, and pavilion roofs. The family chapel, dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi, has a domed roof over spherical pendentives.
